WGW Charity Ball 2013More than 180 supporters donned their finest outfits for the occasion, were treated to a welcoming red carpet and a champagne reception that had been kindly sponsored by long-time supporter Dave Lawrence.

With the fantastic groupies ducking and weaving between tables selling tickets for the red and black game, we were treated to a nail biting finale as four guests pitted their wits against each other on the dance floor for the first prize of a £500 Holiday voucher.

It was Tim Rowell from Norah’s kennels who prevailed much to the delight of his fellow guests.

The food again proved to be a huge success and the groupies again played a blinder as they sold over £1800.00 worth of raffle tickets on the night to go with the £1000 pre sales.

The best dressed lady and gentleman deserve a mention. The rumour that Richard McLeod actually took longer to get ready than his wife Sharon has subsequently been dispelled but his efforts proved worthwhile as the kilt wearing Richard walked off with the prize.

There are not enough words to describe how brilliant Colin Brown was in the auction. With speed of mouth and eyes in the back of his head he went through the auction prizes with great skill and persuasion, culminating in a total of just over £8700 being raised on the night from the auction alone. Without the generous donation of so many prizes it would not have been possible to raise such amount. It goes without saying our sincere thanks goes to those who dug deep into their pockets to pay the amounts they did.

With all the formalities over it was time for the guests to let their hair down. Some decided on propping up the bar, others plumped for strutting their stuff on the dance floor whilst others descended on the fun casino tables.
Well that’s the ball done for another year.

I have already set in motion plans for a ball next year against the best wishes of my husband so put Sunday 7th December in your diary….hope to see you there.
