We held our annual Meet & Greet in Staines High Street on Saturday, 21st September.  As usual the people of Staines were remarkably generous and we collected an amazing £872.  Thanks to all the people and dogs who helped out; I won't list them individually - suffice to say it was the mainly the usual suspects - but special mention should be made of first-timers, Andy, who stayed until the very end and Maureen and her recently acquired WGW dog, Charlie.

An amusing sidelight to the day was that the Salvation Army Band and collectors were also there.  At one point we were approached by a very rude and pompous man, not in uniform and apparently not a member of the Salvation Army, who challenged our right to collect.

When we pointed out our prominently displayed permit to collect badges - an important reminder always to wear them - and that none of the Salvation Army collectors were displaying these, he was rather deflated.  It later transpired that the Salvation Army did not have permission to collect.
